Our retro-reflectometers can be used to assess the quality of a newly striped section of road, test the efficiency of different application techniques, or assess the quality of existing striping to determine when re-striping is necessary. Mirolux Products offers the Ultra 922 retro-reflectometer, a portable, cost effective, and easy to use retro-reflectometer designed to measure the retro-reflectivity of any type of retro-reflective material associated with traffic signs.
The Mirolux Ultra 922 is a portable, cost effective and easy to use device designed to measure the retroreflectivity of any type of retroreflective material associated with traffic signs and determine if minimum retroreflectivity requirements are being met as prescribed in the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD).
The Mirolux Ultra 922 uses the ASTM standard "annular" geometry, measuring observation angles of 0.2 and 0.5° simultaneously, with an entrance angle of -4°. This patented (US Patent# 7,961,328) design allows the user to determine how bright a particular traffic sign will be to both traditional and high profile vehicles. In addition, the annular geometry means you will not have to take an average of two measurements with prismatic-type materials, further simplifying the measurement process.
The sensitive light sensor in the Mirolux Ultra 922 meets ASTM E1709 and ASTM E2540 requirements with the CIE standard human eye response in conjunction with the CIE illuminant "A" lamp.
The Mirolux Ultra 922 sports a GPS receiver and is powered by a self-contained commercially available battery.

The Mirolux Ultra 15 and Mirolux Ultra 30 are pavement retro-reflectometers featuring 1.5° observation angle, 86.5° entrance angle and 1.05° observation angle, 88.76° entrance angle, respectively.
Both sport a built-in printer, highly accurate internal GPS and a Wi-Fi data communications interface.
The products are significantly lower cost compared to the offerings of our competitors, while there is an SE-version of both omitting printer, GPS and Wi-Fi to further cut cost.
All models come with a new user replacable, 12V high capacity recyclable and rechargable Lead Acid battery supporting approx. 8 hours of operation. Any 12 volt power source including an automobile's cigarette lighter or power port, or 110 volt AC current passed through a 12 volt DC power supply to the unit's Auxiliary Power Input jack. (The Mirolux Ultra retro-reflectometers must never be directly powered by 220 volt AC or 110 volt AC power.)
Cleaning of the photocell chamber can be accomplished by the customer, eliminated the most common reason our older instruments have been returned for service. With this feature, customers may never have to return their machine for maintenance.

A built-in printer allows the operator to record and document measurements in real time.
The Mirolux Ultra is configured with built-in GPS functionality to document the location where each reading is collected. A port is also available to input highly accurate GPS modules for those users needing greater than 3 meter accuracy.
The Mirolux Ultra is the only available instrument equipped with Wi-Fi wireless communication capability, allowing the user to transmit collected data to a Wi-Fi equipped printer, laptop or PDA. It provides the ultimate in convenience.
The operator can enter site specific data prior to each use via a touchpad defining location, weather conditions, color and type of pavement marking, etc.
The Mirolux Ultra performs self tests of various systems and will alert the user of low battery voltage, poor GPS satellite fix, and near-full memory conditions.
The Mirolux Ultra 15(SE)/30(SE) are fitted with a folding handle and wheels for the ultimate in portability. The Mirolux Ultra 922 is shipped in a watertight, dust-proof Pelican carrying case.
The Federal Highway Administration has adopted standards for retro-reflectometers based on the European Committee for Standardization's (CEN) 30 meter geometry and ASTM's standard test method E-1710 that closely follows the CEN specifications. In response to the adoption of these standards, Mirolux Products, Inc. has designed and produced the Mirolux Ultra 30, a 30 meter retro-reflectometer, which meets the geometry requirements of ASTM's E-1710 standard.
